Milford NH
A short photo walk in Milford, NH
I’ve wanted to shoot a roll of film in “downtown” Milford, NH for a while and I’m glad I finally took the time. I’ve been suffering from a bit of analysis paralysis trying to settle on a favorite camera and film stock. This was my first attempt with Ilford Delta 100. I used a not entirely trustworthy Pentax ESII with a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 50mm 1.4 and shot with aperture priority at ISO 100.
I’ve been trying to settle on a medium-speed film stock that I can develop in standard Caffenol-C-M, partly so I can try alternatives to coffee. I went with a 15-minute dev time because there isn’t much data on Delta 100 + Caffenol. The base fog on this strip is extremely dark, and I assumed the images would be horrifically overdeveloped, but I love the scans that came out. There’s enough tonality that I’ll probably try to print a few of these in the darkroom.
One additional variable in my experiment is the ESII. A roll of TMAX 100 shot with the same camera and lens is 2/3 over-exposed to my eye. The Delta 100 roll also looked 2/3 over, but it’s harder to tell with the overdevelopment. I’m shooting another roll in the ESII and will try 12:30 at 20C.
